About Sarpa Salpa
Formed in Northampton, England, Sarpa Salpa have evolved both physically and musically to achieve their current form. Marcus Marooth (vocals/guitar), George Neath (guitar), Meg Amirghiasvand (bass) and Charlie Doe (drums) are four friends whose individual tastes and talents came together perfectly to become Sarpa Salpa. With influences spanning the breadth of the indie, pop and rock spectrum, Sarpa Salpa create a sound that is uniquely their own and has won them a loyal fanbase across the UK and beyond.
With extensive support from the likes of BBC 6 Music legend Steve Lamacq and BBC Radio 1 tastemaker Jack Saunders, Sarpa Salpa have amassed an impressive array of radio accolades including BBC Introducing Track of the Week for 2019 single ‘Casanova’, Jack Saunder’s Next Wave track for 2020 EP title track ‘Say Something’, and Jack Saunder’s Tune of the Week for Forwards Backwards’, which enjoyed 12 straight weeks of radio play on the station. Follow up single ‘Stick To What You Know’ enjoyed a similarly impressive reaction with support from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, Amazing Radio and Radio X as did their February release ‘Another Life’, constantly bothering the airwaves for months. The band have also caught the attention of the Student Radio Association, joining their ‘Class of 2021’ and being featured on the Spotify curated ‘Student’s Union’ playlist as a result of this, as well as Deezer’s Campus Sounds. Their appeal isn’t just limited to the FM waves though, as Sarpa Salpa have also made their way onto the small screen with plays for 2019 single ‘Before It Goes Dark’ and 2020’s ‘Stick To What You Know’ on the hit E4 series Made In Chelsea, bringing their music to an audience of hundreds of thousands and solidifying their place as ones to watch in the alt-pop genre.
TV and radio success aside, Sarpa Salpa are a live band through and through. With multiple UK tours under their belts including sell-out dates as far and wide as Manchester to Portsmouth. 2021 saw the band perform on festival stages across the country including a support slot with McFly, alongside another successful UK tour which included their first Scottish date where they played to a packed venue in Glasgow. Moving ahead to 2022, Sarpa Salpa will make their US debut at SXSW, having received a highly coveted spot on the line-up at the Texan festival.
